The Blue Dress

“You’re a stupid, ugly girl,” Leah’s mother reminded her. “You’ll never amount to anything.”

Leah’s difficult home life was compounded by her deformed left hand. From age six, she longed to know the Lord, and she prayed the best she knew with no one to teach her. Egged on by her controlling mother, Leah married a man who cared little for her and didn’t pay the bills. Forced out of housing, the family lived in a primitive shack in the woods.

Traumatized, overwhelmed, and isolated, seeking God but unsure how to proceed, Leah found purpose in loving and raising her seven children. A blue dress was an answer to prayer and a sign that God would help her.

Based on actual events, The Blue Dress is the story of how God led Leah into a close relationship with Him and to a church family who welcomed her to love and safety.
